Building an ethical Organization Part 1
The relationship of leaders to the people and processes of the organization is primary; the leader cannot create or shape the necessary values of an ethical culture alone. Think of the culture as an integral process that involves all constituents in the shaping of ethical norms and expectations (Manning, S. S. (2013) (Ch.) 09 p. 196).
Ordering people to be ethical will not work. Instead, leaders must think about how they send the invitation. The manner with which leaders treat employees and consumers, respond to concerns, and develop an atmosphere of trust will send a message to others about what is valued. Leaders will have to act directly to prevent unethical behavior. However, to accentuate the ethical behavior of constituents, an atmosphere that supports and rewards such behavior is necessary (Manning, S. S. (2013) (Ch.) 10 p. 217).
Building an Ethical Organization
The organization that I would like to build is called Special Programs for Special needs (SPFSN). This is a non-profit organization that offers programs and services to special needs children ages ranging from five years to eighteen years. Programs and services provided include: Family treatment programs, which specialize in training for parents and caregivers of special needs children. This program will target low income families who have no payment source for needed services. Referrals will come from participating counties in Arkansas, but all Arkansas are eligible if the participant is willing to travel. Participants will receive an assessment, an initial diagnostic interview, a psychiatric review of records, and individual and group training. Other programs include one on one training and education for the child or children.
